Battle of the Basins: The Permian

Join us for the final session of our four-part series, which features Joey Hall, EVP at Pioneer Natural Resources, a Texas-based independent exploration and production company focused on developing two oil-rich shale plays in Texas: the Spraberry/Wolfcamp in the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford Shale in the southern part of the state. Come learn more about why Pioneer has chosen The Permian as their favorite basin.

Online registration is now closed; day-of registration will be available for $35/person.

About the Speaker

Joey Hall is Executive Vice President, Permian Operations for Pioneer Natural Resources and a member of its Management Team. He is responsible for planning, development and operations activities in the Permian Basin, where the Company has the largest Spraberry/Wolfcamp acreage position with decades of drilling inventory.

Hall’s rise to Pioneer’s senior leadership team began in 1989, when he joined Pioneer’s predecessor company, MESA, Inc. He held several positions in worldwide facilities, eventually managing offshore, onshore and international projects across the Company, including the Falcon deep water development in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hall was then assigned as Operations Manager in Alaska, where he was responsible for all drilling, production and construction activities. Under his leadership, Pioneer completed the Oooguruk development, establishing Pioneer as the first independent oil and gas company to produce on the North Slope of Alaska.

When Pioneer turned its focus to developing its Eagle Ford Shale assets, Hall was tasked with leading the capital-intensive development, beginning as Vice President, Eagle Ford Asset Team, then to Sr. Vice President, South Texas Operations. Hall’s attention shifted to the Permian Basin when he became Executive Vice President, Southern Wolfcamp Operations. In 2015, he assumed leadership over all of Pioneer’s Permian Operations.

Hall sits on the board of the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, Inc. In 2016, he was inducted into the Texas Tech University Petroleum Engineering Academy.

Hall has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

About the Series

Battle of the Basins is a four-part speaker series that features information about the top basins in our country today. The series will kick-off with a “Super Basins” presentation followed by three basin-specific presentations that will include the average well type curve, cost structure, marketing and take-away capacity, key challenges from a regulatory perspective, and more.

Following the fourth presentation, all attendees will be invited to vote on which basin won the “battle”. The winner will be announced at our annual holiday party on Thursday, December 6, and a $1,500 donation will be given to the Oilfield Helping Hands Chapter associated with their basin. In addition, each attendee who votes will receive an entry into a prize drawing for restaurant and retail gift cards. Join us for one, two, or all four sessions to find out which basin is the best!
