Speaker Series: The Future of Energy in a World That Has Returned to Traditional War

Join us in partnership with CU Denver Global Energy Management Program and Young Professionals in Energy for a discussion on the current state of nuclear energy featuring special guest, Mark Nelson, Radiant Energy Fund. Following the presentation, we will have a happy hour at Rhein Haus for all attendees which is included in the price of admission.

Tickets are $20 for DPC members, and $40 for non-members.

Mark Nelson (Speaker) - Managing Director, Radiant Energy Fund

Mark Nelson is Managing Director at Radiant Energy Fund in Chicago, where he works to prevent early closures of nuclear plants around the world. He attended the UN climate conference in Glasgow as a delegate from the American Nuclear Society and is involved in efforts to save nuclear plants from Germany to California. Previously he worked from 2016 to 2020 at Bay Area environmental nonprofit Environmental Progress with Michael Shellenberger. He holds an MPhil in Nuclear Engineering from Cambridge University and degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Russian Language and Literature from Oklahoma State University.
 



Mark Hinaman
 (Moderator) - Director of Engineering Innovation, Franklin Mountain Energy

Mark is passionate about producing energy for America and the world. Growing up in western Colorado, he was raised in an entrepreneurial natural gas production company, Argali Exploration. The exposure to industry and business throughout his upbringing drove him to earn a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Energy and the Environment at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He went on to work in a myriad of engineering and project management roles at Encana, Anadarko, Sundance Energy, and OneEnergy Partners. He currently serves as Director of Engineering Innovation at Franklin Mountain Energy where he’s helping to deploy nearly $1B through the drilling and development of over 100 oil wells in the Delaware Basin.  Mark is a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado and serves as the Denver Chapter Chair for Young Professionals in Energy. When he’s not brainstorming about how to transform the world, he enjoys playing piano or saxophone, snowboarding and climbing mountains of all sizes, most forms of fitness, beer of all flavors, and traveling the world.
