Hurdles to Net-Zero Carbon Emissions

Join us either in-person or virtually for our first event of 2022 featuring Doug Sandridge, Fulcrum Energy Capital Funds. This event is free for members, but in-person tickets are limited so make sure register ASAP to confirm your spot!

During the past decade, many States and local governments have adopted very ambitious Renewable Portfolio Standards requiring progressively higher amounts of renewable energy to be used in the generation of electricity.  Environmental groups and concerned citizens continue to push for the use of even greater amounts of renewable energy in the quest for “Net-Zero” Carbon Emissions.  While these ambitious efforts are often made by people, legislatures and organizations with their hearts in the right place, they are almost always made without a sophisticated understanding of the scale and scope of the complex energy industry.  Far too little attention has been focused on exactly what it will take to achieve the goal of Net-Zero Carbon Emissions and whether or not it will actually be possible to attain these goals whilst using only renewable energy.

Doug Sandridge’s presentation Hurdles to “Net-Zero” Carbon Emissions endeavors to analyze the technological, political and socio-economic issues which will impact our ability to attain Net-Zero Carbon Emissions through the use of renewable energy.  The presentation identifies seven formidable hurdles, all of which must be overcome in order to attain Net-Zero Carbon Emissions.  For those committed to attainment of Net-Zero Carbon Emissions, this presentation helps to quantify the magnitude of the hurdles and seeks to create a practical roadmap which identifies the priorities and practical paths forward towards a lower carbon economy.

Presentation Length: 2 hours

In-person registration includes beer and wine & heavy appetizers.

Registration is now CLOSED. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door for $25, regardless of membership status. As a reminder, all sales are final and non-refundable.

About Our Speaker:

Doug Sandridge was literally born into the energy industry.  Doug lived overseas during most of his childhood as a consequence of his father’s job (geological engineer for Phillips Petroleum 39+ years).  Doug started working in the “oil patch” himself at the age of 15 in Midland, Texas.  While attending the University of Oklahoma, Doug worked as an oil field mechanic, roustabout, pumper, roughneck, draftsman and field landman.  Doug graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BBA in Petroleum Land Management in May 1982.  In 2011, Doug earned his Master of Science Degree in Global Energy Management from the University of Colorado - Denver.

During the past 46+ years, Doug has primarily worked for petroleum exploration companies in Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana and Texas, with experience in renewable energy.  Doug is currently Vice President of Fulcrum Energy Capital Funds and is the founder/director of EnergyPolicyUS, an organization which promotes non-partisan energy education.  Doug is an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma teaching Alternative Energy, Power & Fuels in the EMBA program. Doug has recently gained national notoriety for his “7 Hurdles to Net-Zero Carbon Emissions.”

Doug has been happily married for 34 years and has three wonderful children.  Outside of family, work and energy education, Doug’s hobbies include Boy Scouts, golf, genealogy and travel.  Doug has travelled internationally to approximately 75 countries!
